On Self-Curation

On Self-Curation

Researching myself surprisingly resulted in positive posts. A quick google search showed links to past and present social media accounts. These really only show my love for food and dogs, with my Instagram showing my love for art and boyfriend. One surprising link actually led to an art gallery’s website. This post was from when I was in elementary school, writing about how me and my fellow artists had a successful gallery showing.

Staying on the topic of art, following this link were multiple links about my charity art project I did with my fine arts class during my senior year. This was the Memory Project, pictures of trauma children from Ukraine were sent to my class for us to draw portraits of them. Once we were done they were sent back to Ukraine for them to keep. A few months later a video was sent to my teacher showing all of the children opening their portraits. It was a fun and powerful experience seeing all of the children that are in harm’s way.

This story was talked about on my school’s website and in local news papers along with their accompanying websites.

Also talked about on other news and local sites was me (along with other classmates) making honor roll and high honor roll in middle school and high school. One even talked about me receiving the student of the term award.

An image search can show you really old embarrassing pictures of myself taken in middle school. You can also find more pictures from The Memory Project and old profile pictures from Facebook.

The uncurated version of myself represented by the web actually represents me pretty well. It shows what I love to do: art, and doing things for others. Though it does not show every side of myself, it is a pretty decent representation (especially in the eyes of employers or, in the past, college advisors).

Though my ePortfolio already contains my thoughts directly, along with an “about me” page, there are some things that are not captured. My love for art and education do not share the light, even though I have pages for them.

These pictures are just quick sketches and blurbs about how I could set up the pages. For watercolor (or just art in general) I could talk about the assignment or inspiration for the piece, also talking about what I do and do not like- and how I could improve.
